In 1958, I bought this little 9-18 Industrial at Greenfield, Iowa, from a fraternity brother named Hansen. His father had been a Case dealer there. With his father’s passing, Mr. Hansen said he would like to sell his dad’s old tractor. It had been stored in a shed on the family farm northeast of Greenfield for many years. I made an offer, bought it and brought it to Indianola. I believe it is one the first Industrial models built at Racine. My father also operated a Case dealership there. He and the shop mechanics looked the old tractor over and […]

My dad, Paul, and my grandfather Bill Roback started collecting tractors around 1972. It all began when they restored a Model C Case together, which granddad had bought new. We still have the tractor. Grandpa used the tractor to do custom combining. As the years rolled by, dad decided he would like to have an unstyled Model R to restore. In the spring of 2007, our friend — the late Billy Overturf at Oak, Nebraska — called and told dad that he had plans of selling his Model R on an upcoming auction but would not list it if we […]

Use any adjective you wish, and it would no doubt be appropriate, from “Superb, Huge or Perfect” in describing the 175th Expo. I witnessed the 150th Anniversary at Rollag, now this the 175th, but it is very unlikely I will live to see the 200th. It is safe to say it is unlikely to get better than Albert City in my lifetime! Colin Johnson and John Ahlers, you did good! Case people from the world over were there to share in the glory, the numbers of which nearly swamped the space available for display. Records were set, from the 580 […]

by Tom Collova The Case Expo at Albert City, Iowa, was amazing, with more than 500 pieces of Case equipment. There were Case tractors in many colors: Dark Green, Grey, Flambeau, Desert Sunset, Power White, Black and Red. No matter the color, the important thing is, they were all Case. I overheard a gentleman at the Foundation merchandise booth commenting on the “Red” Case suspenders for sale: “Why would they have RED suspenders?” Well, naturally, if you went to the field demonstration you saw a Red Case Steiger T tractor and a Red Case Axial-Flow T combine proudly working the […]

by Jim Voyles The Trip. I always thought that the little VAIW warehouse tractors were a rather interesting Case and that I might someday find one. I wasn’t seriously looking for one although I had asked my brother to keep his eye out for one. He located one in Illinois that hadn’t moved from where it was sitting for years. Since it was parked in plain sight, he figured it wasn’t for sale or someone would have bought it. I was looking on eBay in August 2016 and found one listed for sale. The owner said it ran but not […]

Attached is the note from Duane and Lynn regarding the Evolution in the Field demonstration. They plan to do this each day at about 1 p.m. So, exhibitors could sign up for one day or all three days depending on what is needed. This is a link to a short clip on the One Year of Farming demo from 2013. Duane and Lynn came up with this demonstration in 2012 and it has been one of the most popular events. Their concept for Experience the Evolution in the Field will be similar only as Lynn told me, “it will be […]
